OPENINGS THIS WEEKEND, AND NEW BOOK OUT!!
01.26.12

Hey Ventura County, I'm back in town for a bit before going on tour. I'm working overtime getting everyone in before the big Gnarmageddon TOUR.  We are leaving February 6th - March 18th so contact me if you would like to get tattooed.  I will be tattooing there more regularly when I get back in mid March, until the next adventure!

Also I'm super proud to announce that I got a spread in Momento Publishing's new book entitled "Animal Ink," a coffee table book of tattoos with animal subject matter.  I love tattooing animal related illustrations.  There are some amazing artists involved, and I'm super stoked to have gotten to be a part of it.  I think it's available on Amazon.com if you want to pick up a copy.

If you are intersted in what's happening on the Gnarmageddon Tour, just visit the website at www.GnarmageddonTour.com.  We have been making calendar and venue adjustments daily, so check back often for new updates.  You can follow us on Twitter @ GnarTour too.

Back From Columbus!
01.22.12

Hey everyone!  I'm back from a snowy week long stay in Columbus, OH.  I got to meet some rad people, started some big biomech tattoo projects, and even got to do a ship in a bottle finally!  My hotel room had a nice view of trees and the snow which I'm not used to at all, it felt like I was in a cabin in the woods.  I'm glad I got to hang out with Adam, Durb and Alissa, and Radeo, and got a badass little mech turtle tattoo from Adam.  Looking forward to Visiting them at Red Tree Tattoo during one of our tour stops.

Now that I'm back in Ventura County, I'll be tattooing at Neuma Studios privately and doing guest spots at Inkfatuation Tattoo in Port Hueneme until I leave for The Gnarmageddon Tour, Feb 6th.   Stay posted for dates.  I still have openings here and there so if you want to get tattooed just e-mail me at tracesofdave@gmail.com

Stay tuned for many new updates!

Big news this month!  Carson Hill and I have decided to hit the road on a long Nationwide Tour starting February 4th.  We dubbed it the "Gnarmageddon Tattoo Tour".   We will be gone until Mid-March or so.   I threw up a website for us to keep everyone posted on When and Where we will be, a travel blog, and more cool things to come.  Check it out at www.GnarmageddonTour.com.  It will be updated daily with new dates and blog entries.

I still have a few openings this month in Ventura County. After the end of the month I will continue booking appointments when I get back at the end of march.  I will be double booking until the end of Janunary to ensure everyone can get it that wants too.  Contact me for availability.  I'm currently all booked out for Columbus Ohio Jan 16-21, although if you want a little one, I'm sure I can squeeze it in ;-)

THE GNAR BUCKET IS OVERFLOWING!
12.31.11

It seems like life is blowing by way too fast.  It's been non stop over here, working, traveling, and enjoying the holidays.  Gwen had an excellent X-Mas, she got spoiled (as she should).  It was good to see my great bud Tony at Aztec Tattoo in San Diego. The vibe there was chill, and will be booking a regular guest spot there for a few days a month. Also, I will be filling in random days of the month at Inkfatuation Tattoo in Port Hueneme.  Their number is listed in my contacts now.

This month I also got to finish up some really cool projects, like this ginormous painting I did for Carson.   Its 3x5 Feet Oil on  Canvas, and took about 42 hours to complete.  It's my biggest painting yet!  I'll post nice clean pictures of it in the gallery soon!

Been getting to do some really fun tats these days too.  Joe got a new Bio Organic Neck Jammer, and Mike (my trusty apprentice) got some more hours added onto his front.  We're allllllmost done with that beast.  I also started a gnarly black and grey bio organic sleeve on Kyle, a long time client of mine.   Hope you got your motorcycle working again dude!

Greetings Terrestrials!  Been super busy this month tattooing like crazy and finishing up some big painting projects.  Pretty stoked on what's coming out.  Aaaaaaand I got my finger tattooed, haha!  Thanks Carson!  I have some travel dates coming up in the near future:

  • DECEMBER 16th & 17th - Aztec Tattoo 6561 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego CA 92115 619-287-8288
  • JANUARY 16th - 21st - Short North Tattoo 1042 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43201

Contact me for availability at tracesofdave@gmail.com.  Otherwise, I will be at home at Neuma Studios in Oxnard, CA.  I have some dates available for December still, treat yourself to an early Christmas Present!

Speaking of which, I just put up Gift Certificates in the online shop today.  I only sell them for the month of December for gifting, so swoop them while you can!  You can get $50 or $100 increments, and they expire when I'm dead.  Morbid, huh?

Other than that, I've been gearing Gwen up for Christmas. (She's getting a little art studio from Santa).  She LOVES her crayons, and graffiti apparently too.  Oh and the taste of them.  Good times!  Hope you all are enjoying the holliday season!  Be on the look out for more updates this month, one of which might have a certain secret number that could maybe save ya some extra doe in the Online Shop....'Tis the fuckin season!

Savage Mag, Guest Spots, and Booking Up November
11.01.11

Quick update while Gwen takes a nap! Tuesday's we spend together, I can't wait until she can create art with me.  These past few weeks have been packed!  New tats, new art, finishing up a couple huge pieces, and started some new ones too.  Also, Savage Magazine has a little 6 page review on yours truly.  There's cool stuff in it, so check it out!

Oh I also got the opportunity to sponsor my friend and client Mike Jasper, who just won is 3rd Pro MMA fight.  I don't know how he does it, I would shit my pants if I had to go in the cage like that.  We just finished his Bio Organic half sleeve, which is probably why he won, haha!  I'm sure you can YouTube the video by now, watch him knock this dude out!

This weekend I'll be at Off the Map Tattoo Studio in Easthampton, Mass.  I'm booked for the trip, but swing by and say hi, or if you have a little piece you want done I'm sure I can make time for ya.  Beyond that, I'll be at Neuma Studios cranking away tats and working on paintings.  I still have openings this month, so if you would like to make an appointment, email me at tracesofdave@gmail.com.  Thanks!

Off the Map, New Crap, and More New Crap!
10.19.11

Hey everyone!  I will be at Off The Map Tattoo in Easthampton, Mass November 5th and 6th.  I'm booked for the trip, but might make an exception for a rad concept.  I believe a collaborative tattoo with my pal Kelly Doty is in store too, so be on the look out for that.  Also, the Nick Fener Art Auction Benefit we had at Neuma went off with a hitch!  We raised nearly $4,500 from all of your donations to help get Nick new robot legs.  If you want to find out more about how you can help our friend, visit www.NickFener.com.  I won some Dan Hazelton Prints and this badass painting by Eva Huber, who is an equally as talented tattooer too.  STOKED!

Things have been pretty chaotic with work over here these past few weeks.  I apologize to anyone I haven't e-mailed a response to yet, I'm working on it!  Here's a sneak peak at a stomach collaboration myself and Carson Hill are doing.  Ron Collins is a madman!  This is after the second session, with cover ups.

Getting Gnarred up for October!
09.21.11

Hey everyone!  I'm back now after a hectic weekend of tattooing at this years Ink For A Cause here in Ventura.  Thanks to you all who came and got tattooed or just cruised by to say hi, it was a fun time.  Also I owe thanks to Christina Diaz for making sure we were more than taken care of, you rock!   Here at Neuma Studios, we are gearing up for the Nick Fener Art Auction Benefit, finishing up paintings and getting the gallery set up.  We have been getting all kinds of original art, prints, drawings, framed photography, and other pieces donated so far, it's really amazing to see people coming together to help out Nick.  There is still time to donate a piece of art to the auction as well. Any type of art is welcomed... paintings, photography prints, drawings, tattoo time, etc. Please send your art, with a suggested price, to Neuma Studios at 2451 Eastman Ave, Suite 1, Oxnard, CA 93030.   AUCTION BEGINS OCTOBER 15th at 6pm!  BE THERE!

This month has been really cool, but I kind of can't wait for October to be here.  Good beer, horror flicks (more than usual), and my wife and I get to take Gwen trick-or-treating to name a few things.  I still have openings left in October, contact me for availability.   Also be on the look out for some epic new gallery additions.  I've been working on my biggest paintings to date, and some other little ones in the mix.  I should be posting them very soon!

Ink For A Cause, New Tattoos Added, & Art Show News!
09.13.11

Hello World.  This weekend I will be at Ink For A Cause here in Ventura, stop by the Neuma Tattoo Machines booth and say hi to me and Carson.  I'm pretty booked for the show, but if a certain idea catches my attention I may just swoop on it.  I will also have original art and prints for sale, priced to sell.  On Saturday (I think) we are also doing a 1 hour Seminar on Neuma.  The cost is $25 + entry and goes towards The Best Day Foundation.  Hope to see you all there!

I've been getting to do some really cool designs lately.  This one my good friend Aaron brought me.  Nathan started it at the top with a portrait and his hand with a flower and some typeography.  Oh and a coffee stain.  Then I did a ghost on the inside arm, and Adrian did a sweet hairless cat on the back of his arm.  This is the latest addition, and super fun to do some graphic stuff for a change.  Be on the look out for more additions to this!

Loyer (SKA, RXR) is getting a black and grey bio mech sleeve right now too.  This was the latest installment, little sneak peak.  I should be finishing up a couple of real big projects in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for new stuff.  I'm currently booking appointments for October, email me for availability.  If I have a random opening I will post it on my Twitter Feed on the home page.

BACK FROM HELL, FEET FOR FENER, & MORE
08.30.11

After 5 days of desert shenanigans at Hell City, it feels good to be back home and tattooing at the studio.  This show was quite epic, tattooing with Carson, Dee Dee (who is totally awesome), and the Plumley Twins who are on the gnarliest mission to make us all look like lazy bastards.   This was probably the most fun I've ever had at a convention, taking a road trip with my best bud and getting to see my fellow tattoo nerds.   Carson and I were like kids driving to Phoenix, Az, stopping for anything that looked cool.

Arizona is hot as hell.  We figured out through our trusty iPhones that Phoenix was hotter than the Sahara Desert by like 20 degrees or something.  We saw all kinds of dust devil action, and in this photo below, we decided the dirt was evaporating it was so bloody hot.

The Gem lady was rad too.  We had to pull over and trip out on this huge outdoor gemstone store, where they had piles and piles of almost any Gem or Mineral you could think of.  I scored a 50 Million year old Megalodon (shark) tooth, a piece of Moldavite (that came from outer space), and some other geodes and crystals like this one.

At Neuma Studios, I'm currently booking the end of September and into October.  If you are interested in booking an appointment, email me at tracesofdave@gmail.com.  I am currently booked out for the Ink For A Cause convention in Ventura, CA, but cruise by the Neuma booth or join us for our Free Seminar that weekend.

The Nick Fener Project is hosting "Feet For Fener" at Skydive Perris on September 3rd, 2011.  Unfortunately I won't be able to attend this event for Nick, but I encourage anyone and everyone to go and help support our friend by raising money for his new legs.  Also, back at Neuma Studios, we have been collecting art for our own Nick Fener Benefit Art Auction.  The main office is filled with some amazing works all of these artists have been donating for our cause, and I know there is much more to come.  It's so rad to see all of these respectable artists contributing to a cause like this.  For more info on our show, visit the facebook page for the event here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=212198675502902  also www.NickFener.com for a detail blog of Nicks Daily Struggle.

With all of that, I leaf you with this.  Life is beautiful.

New Stuff & Non Stop Epicness!
08.22.11

Holy crap things are busy around here, I finally got a chance to sit down and update.  First order of business:  PARKER GOT PIED!!!!!!!!!  Parker just landed his 100th Skydive, so as tradition, Carson and I schemed up a plan to bless his face with a fresh banana creme pie.  You can watch the video on my YouTube Channel.  Good Times!

Speaking of good times, my longtime buddy and visionary artist Chris Dyer came through to stay with us for a few days during his 7 week adventure from Montreal.  Chris is one talented, inspiring dude and I was super stoked when he asked to get tattooed.  Check out his website www.positivecreations.ca

Here's a shot of his new piece, based on a Jason Jesse skateboard graphic.  Not my usual style, but super fun none the less.  Thanks Chris, I had a blast once again!

Behind the scenes I've been tattooing or painting everyday.  Appointments are filling up for September and October, so if you are interested in getting tattooed, email me soon!  tracesofdave@gmail.com.  I have one more opening at Hell City Phoenix, AZ next weekend, and one more opening at Ink for a Cause, Ventura, In September.

Gearing up for SHARK WEEK!!!!
07.26.11

For me, Shark Week is the best week of the year.  July 31st - August 7th.  It's honestly one of the only reasons I think having cable is legit.  What's better than tattooing sharks all day, and then coming home and watching sharks devour things?  For the past few years I have done an annual Shark Week Special, where I give any shark related tattoo a super sweet discounted flat rate.  I want to see how many sharks I can do, any style.  I'll be up for doing a couple per day, so if you are interested in collecting a shark this year, e-mail me and I will find a time for you to come in!  I have pre-drawn ideas and am open to other ideas too.

Back in Neuma Studios, we are having the some construction done on the roof, new skylights and such are being put in, so Carson and I have relocated to a secret beach house for a little while.  I have to say, it's a lot of fun.  It's like a little vacation.  Sometimes I forget how flipping up the scenery can change your whole attitude and how you look at things.  I can't wait for Hell City Phoenix this year.  I have one day left open, so if you want to get tattooed, e-mail me.

I've been putting up a lot of tattoos in the gallery, be sure to check them out.  I just put up a handful of videos on YouTube showing some large scale tattoos.  As usual, many projects in the works, stay tuned for more!  Also, for in progress shots and sketches and stuff, add me as a friend on Facebook.

What lies behind the Cellar Door?
07.12.11

I have had my hands full these past few weeks here at Neuma Studios, and have been slacking on updates (I know).  But, now I have tons of crap to update with!  I posted a few new tattoos, including a half sleeve on my buddy Mike Jasper, who just won his Pro Debut Fight.  Super stoked for him, check out his facebook page to catch videos of him dominating in the ring.  I also finished up a Bio Organic sleeve on Michelle, I will have healed pictures next week sometime.  I have a bunch of other cool tattoos booked this month, and I can't wait to get to them all.  You can always see in progress photos and videos of my work on my Face Book page too.

THE NICK FENER PROJECT - nickfener.com

Nick Fener is a really rad dude who had a terrible skydiving accident.  He survived, but now he lives with amputated legs.  He was a career skydiver, and I really feel for his loss.  I can't imagine losing my arms and not being able to create paintings and tattoos anymore.  He was doing what he loved and lived for.  I encourage everyone to read his blog, maybe you will take something positive from it like I did.  We are currently working on a benefit art auction where all proceeds of the Donated Paintings go to Nick's recovery.  For this auction I decided to paint the most epic, large scale painting of my career, and I couldn't be happier to give it up for a cause such as this.  Nick gave me my first skydive.  Fuck Yeah Nick!  Here is all the info to help his cause, and his news blog to read about what a gnarly fucking dude he is.  www.NICKFENER.com

Be on the look out for some epic new updates coming up!  We have been working on some video projects and other various art projects around the clock.  This summer is starting to rule!  I have a few days left open this month, otherwise I will be booking for August.  I have one more open day for the Hell City Phoenix convention, if you want to book an appointment contact me via e-mail.

Life is Buckets of Gnar!
06.23.11

Life has been beautiful these days.  I'm loving it here at Neuma Tattoo Machines in Oxnard, where it seems everyday is a learning experience and I feel my art and tattooing skills evolving constantly.  I've been tattooing a lot lately, working on some real interesting concepts people bring me.  I just posted a couple new pieces and some in progress work too.  I've also gotten to tattoo some of my sketches out of a line drawing book I've been putting together for the past 6 months or so.  I always hook up a good flat rate if you want a sketch out of my book.  As a rule, I only do them once.

I have a grip of painting projects in the mix right now, working on them almost simultaneously. I have an art show coming up this summer in Ventura (details soon).  Should be a doozy.  I am also booking appointments for Hell City Phoenix, AZ this year and Ink 4 A Cause in here in Ventura, CA .  Let me know if you are interested in getting tattoo'd at either of these fine events.  Spaces limited.

Around tattooing and painting, and chasing my daughter around, its been hard to find time to play.  Recently a couple of my sky diving buddies introduced me to Disc Golf, and I've been pretty psyched on it!  If you haven't tried it yet, check it out.  A few of my clients are into it and we play a round before tattoo time.  Its fun!  Do it!

Anytime Is A Good Time For Simpler Times
06.10.11

Despite our "June Gloom" season out here, I've been booking some good tattoos and keepin' it real with ice cold Simpler Times Lager fully stocked in my fridge at all times.   I love Simpler Times so much, I'm down to do tattoos like the one above for a sweet flat rate.  Just e-mail me at TracesOfDave@gmail.com if you are interested and I will find a day for you!  I also have a sketchbook full of fun stuff I want to do, so if you are looking to collect a unique piece from me, you can always schedule a time to come down and check it out.

When I'm not working at Neuma Studios in Oxnard, CA, I'm hanging with my wife and daughter, who is growing up way too fast!  She is a handful, so if I take a few days to respond to your e-mails, it's probably because I'm running around trying to catch Gwen, haha!  We took her to the Botanical Garden in Thousand Oaks the other day and she loved it.  I got a good amount of natural inspirado for tattoos and paintings I can't wait to get into.

Lately I've been getting alot of big work in, like Brian's leg here.  Its a giant cover up too, this is the marker drawing before we tattoo'd all day.   I love doing big work, but Im also down to do the small ones too!  I always leave at least 2 days per week open for smaller, single session pieces so you don't have to wait forever to get in.

Stewed, Screwed, New Travel Dates & Tattoos!
05.25.11

Finally, a break!  I've been tattooing my brains out here at Neuma Studios.  Everyday is a new adventure here, I love it.  I've been doing some really cool tattoos lately, including a bunch of big pieces, and finally getting around to finishing some other large work.  I finally booked a few veggie tattoos for the end of the month too, including one I just posted in my tattoo gallery.

Kasey's arm is almost done, and I'm completely psyched on it.  She's one of my favorites!  This is just a preview of the madness going on.  I've been really pleased with the requests coming in lately.  Lots of cool ideas and cool people.  Couldn't ask for more.  I should have this one finished soon, so keep your eyes peeled!   This next one is a leg sleeve Tim wanted depicting a poseidon figure fighting a squid, and here is the idea we came up with.  This is just the outline and layout after 2 sessions.  Tim is another one of those "ideal customers".  Sits like a rock, appreciates hard work, stoked everytime, and tips like a badass, haha!  Thanks again TIM, you fucking rock dude!

I'm currently booking appointments for June and July.  Also I have spaces open for Hell City Phoenix, AZ  and Ink For A Cause in Ventura, CA.  E-mail me for availability.   Beyond tattooing and hanging with the family, I've been trying to paint as much as possible on my downtime.  I always have paintings for sale my online shop, as well as gift certificates and even a place to leave your deposits for appointments.  Support your local artist!  :-)

For booking info email me:  tracesofdave@gmail.com

thanks!

Cool Stuff Abroad, and New Tattoos!
05.15.11

Well, no one seems to be into vegetables this month, haha!  I've been drawing cool veggies all month like this tomato guy.  I really want to do some stuff like this so if you are interested, I will hook up a sweet deal and get you in quick!  Besides not tattooing vegetables,  I've been really busy these days, booking appointments in June, working on projects, and getting ready for travels.  I still have an opening for the Hell City convention in Phoenix, AZ August 26TH - 28TH.  Also I'll be at Ink For a Cause in Ventura, CA in September.  Also I have a bunch of stuff coming out in some books I can't wait to see.  I'll post em when they come out!

This is a photo of skater Jay's skateboard factory sleeve we started a while back.  I'm pretty stoked on the results so far, and there is much more to come.  Starting large projects is always fun, but also a lot of work!  It often takes several sessions on detailed stuff like this before the piece looks dialed.  I think it's really important for people to be patient and realize that creating tattoos like this is a multi-stage process and not to be disappointed if they don't get instant results.   More and More people are requesting large scale work lately, so I just want to let it be known that it's time consuming and expensive, but the end result is worth every penny, and you will be happier in the long run.  After all, the tattoo will always be there to remind you of that.   I want each and every one of my customers to be happy with my work, so I figure letting this be known may avoid any future confusion.  :-D

With that being said, if you have any questions about a tattoo or want to book an appointment with me, just email me at tracesofdave@gmail.com.  Thanks!

LOTS OF NEWS & VEGETABLES!
05.05.11

May is off to a good start!  I have a lot of projects that are getting finished and starting new ones.  Michelle's arm is coming along, and a great way to end the month of bio.  She has a large cover up on the lower portion that we hit every session.  The sleeve is still in its early stages but will come together nicely.  Can't wait to finish it!   Anyways, for a couple of days I've been tripping out on vegetables, and how rad they are.  So, what a better theme for the month of May?  I'm painting a few, and already have a couple of tattoos lined up, AAAAAAAND I'm reducing my rate for anything vegetable all this month!  Whoo hoo!  E-mail me to book your appointment.

Last Tuesday & Wednesday I did a little guest spot at High Class Tattoo, Main St Ventura, thanks for having me guys it was fun!  Beyond that I've been here at Neuma Studios, painting my brains out and tattooing nothing but rad tattoos.  They are my second family, I love em!  Also finishing up a sketchbook of line drawings I've done over the past 6 months, can't wait to get that out.  Be on the look out!

I still have appointments available all month and next.  If you are interested in getting tattoo'd (vegetable or not) e-mail me at tracesofdave@gmail.com.  Hope you're enjoying the summer season as much as me!

Tattoo Season Is Here!
04.18.11

I love California this time of year.  The weather has been perfect, and a short drive on PCH makes you realize why we live here.  Beach season is coming and it's going to start getting super busy.  I've been staying pretty busy at the studio, and just moved my painting stuff down there today so I'll be there almost every day working on pieces or tattooing.   Book your appointment soon before the long wait!

I keep my calendar pretty full, although lately I have been spacing appointments out and leaving a few openings here and there for people who want to get in sooner.  I have also been posting openings on my Twitter feed (on the main page) so you can follow me @ TracesOfDave or just come to the site and see what the status is.  Handy ain't she?  I have a bunch of cool stuff coming up and can't wait to post some new work!

TRAVELS!

I'm booking appointments for Hell City Phoenix this year in August.  I will be tattooing at the Neuma Booth, and probably going to be jumping out of a plane again!  I'm also planning a short trip to San Francisco in the middle of next month.  Email me if you are interested in booking a day there.

MONTHLY SPECIALS!

BioMech month was a huge success, you guys are crazy!  I'm trying to think of a theme to celebrate for May.  You can always bother me on FaceBook and shoot me some ideas.  If you don't know, I discount certain tattoos every month.  This month was Bio Mechanics, and it booked out quick.  Stay tuned!

I JUMPED OUT OF A PLANE!
04.10.11

Today I jumped out of plane with Carson Hill and Parker Forbes, my badass co-workers.  Thank you for opening this window of Gnar into my life!  As soon as I figure out how to get this DVD on YouTube i'll post up the video so you can laugh at me.  Also TattooNow did a rad job of giving my galleries and contact page a face lift.  I finally posted the address & phone number to my new studio so you can get ahold of me anytime.

This month has been so rad so far.  I've been designing most of my bio tattoos in photoshop  like the one pictured above.  Everyone seems to dig being able to see a good representation of how the tattoo will look on your body.

I still draw though!

This is a sneak peak of Joe's bio sleeve i'm working on, and super super stoked on.  Hopefully it will be done soon, I'm ready to show that shit off!  hah!

Anyways, still booking appointments this month, so there are still spots open if you want to get worked on. I'm booking for May too.

Bio Month is Going Strong!
04.06.11

This month I'm celebrating my daughter Gwen's 1st birthday with a special rate on all things Bio Mechanical (geo, orgainic, mechanoid, whatever!)  People have been psyched on the deal and Spots have been filling up quick.  I have been posting previews, in-progress work, and sketches of stuff in my twitter feed so you can see what's going on.  I also post openings I get in case of cancelations and stuff, so keep posted and you could slide right in to my schedule.

So, have you ever eaten a donut, drank a few rock star's, then washed it down with some deep fried coconut shrimp?  I have, and then barfed right before  an epic collaboration myself and Carson were tattooing on this badass dude Ron (his chick Amanda was super cool too.)   Ended up taking a barf break about every hour for 3 hours until I tapped out.  Food poisoning sucks!!!  Ron was a real good sport about it and I can't wait to finish his stomach with Carson on a good note!

Otherwise, I'm just painting at home, playing disc golf with the guys, and tattooing like usual.  I have some cool projects in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for some gnar.

April Showers Bring BioMech!
03.26.11

I can't believe how big my daughter is getting!  It's crazy how fast a year goes by when you have a kid.  On April 20th, Gwen turns 1 year old!  In light of this celebration, I've decided to give special rates on Biomech designs for the whole month of April.  Gwen loves the Bio!  These can be Mechanical, Geometric, Organic, etc.  Color or Black & Grey.  Spots are already filling up, so if you are interested in getting an appointment, e-mail me asap.  I will be giving a VERY good rate for these pieces.

Back at Neuma Studios, I have been having a blast with my crew there, staying busy with tattooing, drawing, and occasional Disc Golf excursions.  I'm also set to go skydiving next month!  I've been staying pretty busy and booked, although I leave days open for new clients all the time so it shouldn't be too difficult to get in.  For appointments and consultations please e-mail me: tracesofdave@gmail.com.

The monthly specials have been a total success, keeping me busy and you all happy.  If you can't get in on this one, check back soon to see what's in store for May!

Musink, Tattoo Books, & Other Good Stuff!
03.02.11

Well, here I am on my birthday, updating my site.  I never stop working it seems, haha!  Can't wait for Musink this weekend, the show is going to be a blast.  I still have one opening for the weekend, which I will leave open for walk-ups.   Looking forward to seeing all my buddies and meeting new ones.....and CKY!  Also, I got an invite to submit some tattoo work for an upcoming book on Animals, and a book on tattoo'd extremities (hands, head, feet).  If you are intersted in getting something cool as part of the project, I can set you up with a good deal.  I only have a few spots open in March and the deadline is at the end of the month, so let me know asap before its all booked up.

Also, just wanted to say that the guys (and gals) at Neuma Tattoo Machines have been amazing to me and my little family, and I am proud to call it my new home.  Can't wait to see what work comes out of this studio!  I have a bunch of cool stuff in the works, hopefully they will be all wrapped up in the next few months for you all to see.

The next time I update my site, it will be revamped with a new layout and other buzzes and whistles.  Be on the look out!

Booking for Musink
02.09.11

Orange County's Musink Convention is a pretty cool event, combining live music and tattooing.  I'll be tattooing in a booth with Jose Morales from Hawaii and Jon Montalvo from Florida.  They are both really cool dudes and am stoked to get to work with them this year.  Plus CKY is playing on friday, being a skater dork I have to stop what I'm doing and get crazy for that one.  Yeah!!!  Currently I have Friday and Saturday open for walk-ups.  Email me if you are interested.  For more info on that check out: http://www.musink.org/.

Back at Neuma Studios in Oxnard I am currently taking appointments for March.  I really dig it here and am pretty stoked on the performance of these Hybrid Machines too.  Been turning out some cool tattoos, and everyone here treats me like family.  If you are looking to get tattoo'd next month, please email me for availability at tracesofdave@gmail.com

thanks!

Goodbye LA!
01.14.11

And so comes a change.  Starting January 26th I will be taking appointments at Neuma Studios in Oxnard, CA.  After a year and a half tattooing with Nathan and various other artists, it's time for me to move on.   I had a blast in LA and am sad to leave, but also ready to turn a new page in the book of Gnar.  Thanks for everything Nate!  In addition to being closer to most of my clientele, I have some large projects and special pieces I want to do that will get a super good rate.  I am currently booking tattoo appointments for February, email me for availability.  Thanks!

NEW YEAR, NEW LEAF....
12.31.10

Hope everyone had a fun & safe New Year.  I can say this year has been super crazy for me.  I had a beautiful baby girl, moved to Los Angeles to work at Coil, did my first convention, got tattoo'd, learned a grip of new techniques, started oil painting, broke my leg in half, started some epic projects, and made new friends and clients who are all super amazing.  Hit some highs, definently felt the lows, and looking forward to the new year.

Well, now that that is over, I'm ready to turn a new leaf!  Just a heads up, the first tattoo of 2011 will start my new portfolio, and the old one is gone!  Also I'd like to extend a New Years Special for January:  Any tattoo out of my personal sketchbook for $250.  I will not email any of the drawings out, so you have to come to the studio and flip through the book.  Subject matter varies and it's all stuff I just want to tattoo on people.  Email me at tracesofdave@gmail.com if you are interested.

One more blast:  I sell Gift Certificates, Paintings, Prints, and other cool stuff on my online store: TheBlopShop.com!  Check it out, and use code: "X5KJUA" to save 15% off your entire order.  Stay tuned for new work and merch!

THANKS!

DAVE BARTON
